COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Act 2020 & Amendment Act

Updated 21 October 2020

The COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Act 2020 was passed on 23 April 2020 and came into operation on 25 April 2020.  It temporarily amends certain Acts, and temporarily empowers the making of regulations, to modify certain aspects of the law of Victoria to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) and Other Acts Amendment Act 2020 commenced on 21/10/2020.  It introduces three new provisions which are relevant to the Children's Court and also extends the operation of the Omnibus Act up to and including 25/04/2021.

This document, prepared by former Magistrate Peter Power, summarizes the amendments that specifically apply to the Children’s Court.
