Multi-disciplinary Training

Following recommendations of the Child Protection Proceedings Taskforce in 2009 the Victorian Government made funding available for a multi-disciplinary training initiative.  The Children's Court, Victorian Legal Aid and the Department of Health and Human Services jointly manage the Multi-disciplinary Training Initiative which delivers cross-disciplinary professional development for professionals working in the Children's Court Family Division. This allows practitioners to come together to learn, share ideas, understand each other's roles and prepare for change or reform. Since 2010 a series of training and development events have been made available.

Who is the training for?

The training is for child protection staff of the Department of Health & Human Services, the Child Protection Litigation Office and Victoria Legal Aid,  Children's Court staff and private solicitors and barristers practising in the Children's Court Family Division.

Multi-disciplinary Training Survey 2019

In June 2019 an online survey was distributed to elicit the training needs of professionals working within the Victorian statutory child protection system. The survey was completed by 136 participants.  Click here for a summary of the survey findings.
