On 29 January 2020, Magistrate Hawkins and Family Drug Treatment Court (FDTC) Statewide Program Manager Matt Wilson attended an afternoon tea at Government House hosted by the Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC.

The event recognised the FDTC as the winner of the 2019 Victorian Protecting Children Awards’ prestigious Robin Miller ‘Making a Difference’ Award.

This award recognises an individual, team or group within the child and family service sector, who has made an exceptional contribution to directly improve the lives of non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal children, young people and families in Victoria.  The FDTC’s success in winning this award represents the first time a Victorian Protecting Children Award has been awarded to a Court or Court-based program.
