Update – Central Victoria Floods
15 November 2022
Please see attached update from the Magistrates’ Court in relation to the management of court hearings in flood affected areas, which includes the management of Children’s Court hearings.
Seymour Court remains closed until further notice.
All Seymour hearings will be conducted online or in person at Shepparton court. To arrange an online hearing, or if you cannot attend online or in person, contact Shepparton court on 9087 5723 or seymourcoordinator@courts.vic.gov.au.
All other courts are currently unaffected by the floods and are operating as usual.
If you are flood affected and have an upcoming hearing at a Children’s Court location other than Seymour and you cannot attend your hearing, you can:
- speak to your lawyer, if you have one, to assist you in arranging an adjournment or online hearing.
- If you don’t have a lawyer, contact the court location at which your matter is to be heard to discuss whether your matter can be adjourned or heard online.
Courts are experiencing higher than usual volumes of emails and phone calls at this time so please do not follow up with a further email or phone call. You will receive a receipt that your email has been received.
If your matter is a Family Violence or Personal Safety Intervention Order proceeding and there is a current order for your protection, the order will continue in force during a period of adjournment. If it is a new application and requires urgent consideration of an issue of safety, please contact the court to arrange your attendance online, by telephone or in person.
If you are at immediate risk of harm, please contact 000.
