Practice Directions 2021

Practice Direction 15 of 2021

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) from 12.00 am 31 December 2021.

1. Practice Direction No. 14 of 2021 is revoked. 
2. Commencement dates of Practice Directions No. 1, 2 & 3 of 2022 are suspended.
3. The Online Children’s Court (the OCC) will continue to hear matters across all Divisions of the Court.

Practice Direction 14 of 2021 (REVOKED)

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) from 27 November 2021 until:

• 30 January 2022, in respect of paragraphs 2 to 6;
• 5 February 2022, in respect of paragraph 7; and
• 5 March 2022, in respect of paragraph 8 (the relevant periods). 

Practice Direction 13 of 2021

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) from 12.00 am 30 October 2021 to 11.59pm 26 November 2021 (the relevant period).

Practice Direction 12 of 2021

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) from 12.00 am 25 September 2021 to 11.59pm 29 October 2021 (the relevant period).

Practice Direction 11 of 2021

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) from 4 September 2021 12.00 am to 11.59pm 24 September 2021 (the relevant period) and revokes Practice Direction 10 of 2021. 

Practice Direction 10 of 2021

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act), to apply from 23 August 2021 12.00 am to 3 September 2021 11.59pm (the relevant period) and revokes Practice Direction 9 of 2021.

Practice Direction 9 of 2021

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) for a period of 14 days from 16 August 2021 12.00 am to 29 August 2021 11.59pm (the relevant period), and revokes Practice Direction No. 8 of 2021.

Practice Direction 8 of 2021 (reissued)

This Practice Direction is reissued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) for a period of 14 days from 7 August 2021 12.00 am to 20 August 2021 11.59pm (the relevant period). 

Practice Direction 7 of 2021 

This Practice Direction is issued pursuant to section 592 of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (the Act) for a period of 8 days from 15 July 2021 11.59pm to 23 July 2021 11.59pm (the relevant period). 

Practice Direction 6 of 2021

This Practice Direction commences on 12 July 2021 and applies to all Family Division Child Protection matters heard by the Children’s Court of Victoria.

It replaces and revokes all other Family Division Child Protection Practice Directions.

Response to the Circuit Breaker Lockdown by the Chief Health Officer for the period of 3 June at 11.59pm to 10 June 2021.

Practice Direction 4 of 2021

Response to the 7 day Circuit Breaker Lockdown by the Chief Health Officer for 27 May 2021 to 3 June 2021.

Practice Direction 3 of 2021

Takes effect from 7 June 2021.

This Practice Direction applies to all matters heard by the Children’s Court pursuant to the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (Vic.) or the Personal Safety Intervention Orders Act 2010 (Vic.)
