The Youth Justice Act Short Manual includes: 

• A 31-page summary of the YJA, highlighting the key provisions and including cross-references to provisions in Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (CYFA). 
• A brief summary of the complex transitional provisions contained in ss.858-898 of the YJA. Transitionals should be considered on a case by case basis if in doubt.
• Comparison of the sentencing principles in ss.203-210 YJA & s.362(1) CYFA.
• Detailed ‘cheat sheets’ summarising each of the 9 YJA sentencing orders.
• Three charts provided by the Judicial College summarising the 9 YJA sentences.
• Includes pre-sentence, specialist assessment & PSGC reports, priors, victim impact statements and the child’s unique and systemic background factors.
• Discussion of a pre-sentence group conference (PSGC), an early diversion group conference (EDGC) and a parole stage group conference (PAGC).
